App: Weighty – Workout Tracker (com.fatih.weighty)

Developer: Fatih Battal Contact: ben@fatih.page Effective Date: July 31, 2026 Version: 1.0

Quick Summary

Weighty has no servers. You do not create an account, and you do not log in. All data generated by the app — your workouts, sets, records, settings — stays exclusively on your device. As the developer, we have absolutely no access to your data. No ads, analytics, crash reporting, or tracking tools are used. No data is sold, rented, or shared with third parties. The app does not request Android's INTERNET permission. Therefore, it technically cannot send your data anywhere. There are only three situations where your data leaves your device, and all three are initiated by you: (1) Transfer to Health Connect, (2) sharing a backup/CSV file, (3) Android's own automatic backup. All of these are explained individually below.

1. Data Processed

The following data is stored in the database (Room/SQLite) and preference file (DataStore) on your device. None of it is transmitted to us or a server.

1.1 Profile Information (optional)

Data

Reason for storing

Mandatory

Name

Displayed in the greeting on the home screen

No

Body weight (kg)

Volume and calorie calculation for bodyweight exercises

No

Height (cm)

Basal metabolic rate estimation and BMI information

No

All three of these fields can be left blank; the app will continue to function normally, only the related calculations will not be performed.

1.2 Workout Data

  • Routines, routine folders, target set/rep/weight templates

  • Workout sessions: start–end time, title, notes, rest timer

  • Performed sets: weight, rep count, RPE, duration, distance, set note

  • Personal records and estimated 1RM values

  • Estimated active calories

  • Favorited and added custom exercises

1.3 Heart Rate Data

If you use the Wear OS watch app, the bpm measurements read from the watch's heart rate sensor during a workout are stored on the phone linked to that workout. If the watch app is not used, heart rate data is never generated.

1.4 App Preferences

Settings such as unit (kg/lb), theme, rest timer, vibration/sound preference, plate step, and whether Health Connect synchronization is enabled.

1.5 Data Not Collected

Weighty does not request, read, or store the following:

  • Email address, phone number, account information (there is no account system)

  • Location data

  • Contacts, calendar, call logs, SMS

  • Gallery or camera access

  • Advertising ID (AAID), device ID, IP address

  • Usage/analytics data, crash reports

  • List of other installed apps (it only queries whether Health Connect is installed)

2. Permissions and Reasons for Requesting Them

Phone App

Permission

Purpose

WAKE_LOCK

To keep the screen on during a workout (can be disabled in settings)

FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_HEALTH

To prevent the workout timer from stopping when the app is in the background

ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION

Android 14 and above require this permission for the health-type foreground service to run. The app does not read motion/step data with this permission; if not granted, the workout will still run, just without the persistent notification and background timer

POST_NOTIFICATIONS

To show a notification when the rest timer ends

VIBRATE

Vibration when the rest timer ends

health.WRITE_EXERCISE

To write the completed workout to Health Connect

health.READ_EXERCISE

To read back the written record to prevent writing the same workout twice

health.WRITE_HEART_RATE

To write the heart rate series from the watch to Health Connect

health.WRITE_ACTIVE_CALORIES_BURNED, health.WRITE_TOTAL_CALORIES_BURNED

To write estimated calories to Health Connect

Wear OS (Watch) App

Permission

Purpose

BODY_SENSORS

To measure heart rate during a workout

ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION

To enable the health-type foreground service to run

WAKE_LOCK, POST_NOTIFICATIONS, VIBRATE

To keep the workout screen on and for set/rest notifications

FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_HEALTH

To maintain heart rate measurement throughout the workout

The app does not request the INTERNET permission.

3. Health Connect

Health Connect integration is disabled by default. It becomes active when you enable it in Settings and grant approval from Health Connect's own permission screen. Data written: workout session (type, start/end time, title), heart rate series, estimated active calories, and total calories. Data read: only the workout records written by Weighty itself — to prevent duplicate entries of the same workout. Health data from other apps is not read. Health Connect is a system component provided by Google that runs on your device; the written data does not leave your device, it goes to the local health repository under your control. You decide which other apps this data is shared with via your Health Connect settings. You can revoke this permission at any time from the Health Connect app; Weighty will stop writing from that moment on. You can delete previously written records via Health Connect. Commitment: Health data accessed or written via Health Connect is not used for advertising purposes, sold, or transferred to data brokers or other third parties. This data is processed by Weighty solely for the app's own functions.

4. Communication Between Watch and Phone

The watch app is stateless: it has no database of its own and does not store data. Workout data and heart rate measurements are transmitted directly between your devices via the Google Play Services Wearable Data Layer infrastructure (Bluetooth / local network). This transfer occurs between your own paired devices; no copy is sent to us or any other server. How Play Services performs this transfer is subject to Google's privacy policy.

5. Backup, Export, and Sharing

5.1 Backups Initiated by You (JSON / CSV)

From Settings, you can back up all your data as JSON or export your workout history as CSV. The file is first written to the app's own temporary folder, then the Android share menu opens, and you send the file to a destination (Drive, email, file manager, WhatsApp…). Once the file leaves your device, it is then subject to the privacy policy of that destination service. Backup files are unencrypted plain text — your workout history, notes, and height/weight information are completely readable. Be mindful of where you send them.

5.2 Android's Automatic Backup

Android's Auto Backup feature is enabled in the app. This is a feature provided by the operating system: if your device is eligible, Weighty's database and settings file are backed up to your own Google account and restored when you switch to a new device. The same data is also transferred during a device-to-device migration. This backup is kept on Google's infrastructure, is subject to Google's privacy policy, and is encrypted with your device's lock screen credentials. It does not belong to us, and we have no access to it. If you do not want this, you can disable it from your device's Settings → Google → Backup section.

5.3 Workout Summary Image

The sharing image generated at the end of a workout is created entirely on the device and only leaves the device if you choose to share it. The image includes workout duration, volume, calories, your best sets, and records; you decide what to share.

6. Third Parties

Weighty does not contain any ad networks, analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or any tracking libraries. No data is sold or shared for marketing purposes. The only external components the app interacts with are the following system services running on your device:

  • Health Connect (only if you grant permission)

  • Google Play Services – Wearable Data Layer (only if you use the watch app)

  • Android Auto Backup (depending on your system settings)

  • If you obtained the app via Google Play, distribution and updates are subject to Google Play's own processes. The exercise library and images are sourced from the public domain free-exercise-db project and are installed on the device along with the app; content is not fetched from the internet at runtime.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it. There is no retention period or automatic cleanup. Deletion methods:

  • Individually: you can delete workouts, routines, and sets from within the app.

  • Entirely: navigating to Settings → Apps → Weighty → Storage → Clear data on your device deletes the entire database and settings.

  • Uninstalling the app deletes all Weighty data on the device. The following are not removed by uninstalling the app; you need to handle them separately:

  • Records written to Health Connect → Deleted from the Health Connect app.

  • Auto backup in your Google account → Deleted from Google account backup settings.

  • JSON/CSV files you have exported and sent elsewhere. Note: Importing a backup file overwrites your current workout history. It is highly recommended to take a current backup before importing.

8. Security

  • Data is kept within Android's app sandbox; other apps cannot access it.

  • If your device uses lock screen protection and full disk encryption, the database is also under this protection.

  • Since the app has no network connection, there is no data to be intercepted during transit. To be explicitly clear: the database is not additionally encrypted at the application level. Someone with physical access to your device or who has rooted the device could potentially access the data. It is recommended to protect your device with a screen lock.

9. Children's Privacy

Weighty is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. Since no data is collected from any user anyway, there is no data pool in this regard.

10. Your Rights (KVKK / GDPR)

Under the KVKK (Law No. 6698) and GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, delete, and port your data. In Weighty, these rights are already structurally fulfilled:

  • Access and portability: you can export all your data as JSON or CSV at any time.

  • Rectification: every record can be edited within the app.

  • Deletion: data is completely deleted via the steps in section 7 above. Since we, as the developer, do not possess a copy of your data, there is no data to fulfill an access or deletion request made to us. For questions regarding the app's data handling, you can write to ben@fatih.page.

11. Health Disclaimer

Weighty is a workout logbook; it is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Estimated 1RM, calorie, and BMI values are approximate calculations and cannot be used for diagnostic or treatment purposes. Heart rate measurement depends on the sensor accuracy of the wearable device. Make health-related decisions by consulting a healthcare professional.

12. Changes to this Policy

If the policy is updated, the effective date on this page will change. If there is a change that materially affects data handling (for example, if a server component is added), the change will also be announced within the app.
